TATTOO AFTERCARE
Please follow these guidelines after getting your new tattoo from Jessica White. Every artist has different recommendations according to how he/she tattoos…...

1. You may remove the bandage after two hours. Make sure you have a clean place to wash your tattoo before removing it. Never rebandage.

2. Wash your tattoo carefully with warm water and gentle soap.

Recommendations:
#1 Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap
#2 Soft Soap
#3 Dove Unscented

3. Rinse with warm water, pat dry with a clean paper towel, and apply aftercare according to the following:

4. OINTMENT APPLICATION:
For the first two days apply a thin layer of approved ointment once after washing & once before bed. Gently rub it in to your tattoo.

Approved Ointment: A&D or Aquaphor

5. LOTION APPLICATION:
For the next two weeks apply a dye free, fragrance free lotion as needed. I recommend at least 4-5 times a day. Make sure it is unscented and has no sunscreen.

Recommendations:
#1 H2Ocean Tattoo Lotion or Foam
#2 Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

6. Now, after two weeks, is the time to switch to a lotion with Sunscreen. Sunscreen is your new best friend. Apply it ANY TIME your tattoo is exposed, even on rainy days. This will help protect your tattoo and keep it looking healthy over time.

7. Remember not everyone’s skin heals the same. Listen to your body and ask any questions if necessary.

DO's and DONT's
These are things to keep in mind before, during, and after getting your tattoo by Jessica.

BEFORE:

#1 DO eat a good meal before receiving a new tattoo. Low blood sugar can cause nausea, dizziness, and fainting

#2 if you want to shave or buzz the area being tattooed... DO so the night before. Your artist will usually shave for you but doing so before makes the process easier

#3 DON'T apply lotion, perfumes, deodorants, oils, or any other skin products to the area being tattooed.

#4 DON'T drink excessive amounts of alcohol or take illegal substances before your tattoo. Your artist wants you to be clear headed and make conscious decisions during the tattoo process. Also these substances can thin your blood, making the tattoo application more difficult, thus hindering the healing process and possibly requiring touchups.

#5 DO consult with your doctor and take prescription antibiotics before the tattoo if you are required to do so before visiting the dentist.

DURING:

#1 DO tell your artist if you begin to feel light headed or dizzy during the tattoo.

#2 DO feel free to ask questions about the tattoo, and give your input on color selection. I enjoy collaborating with my clients :)

#3 DON'T move. Haha, I know this can be difficult, and of course the body has natural movements during the tattoo process. All we ask is that you try to refrain from things like turning your head or body quickly, making sudden movements, and Òtalking with your hands.Ó

#4 DON'T hold your breathe or breathe too quickly. Both of these can cause you to feel light headed and faint. Just control your breathing in a relaxed manner, even if we are working on your stomach or side.

AFTER:

#1 DO keep your tattoo clean, gently washing it everyday for the first 3 days, & at least every other day for the next 2 weeks.
Remember your tattoo is an open wound, and you want to keep it clean and free from infection.

#2 DON'T rebandage your tattoo. It needs to be able to breathe during the healing process.

#3 DON'T soak your tattoo for the first month. No swimming, spas, bathtubs, rivers, oceans, etc.
When you take a shower try to keep it from being submerged in water for extended periods of time. Clean it last and pat dry with clean paper towels.

#4 DON'T peel skin, pick at, or scratch your new tattoo. It will usually flake and itch like a mild sunburn. Let it naturally peel. If it itches you may slap it if desired.

#5 DO keep your tattoo moist with approved aftercare lotion. Drying out can cause cracks, scars, & loss of ink.

QUESTIONS?
Remember to contact your tattoo artist if you have any further questions about your tattoo process.

Thanks!!!
